Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has confirmed a so-called extended scope contract that includes the supply of turbines and an offshore transformer module to EnBW’s 112MW Albatros wind farm in the German North Sea.
The deal was first revealed by subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS earlier this year.
Under the contract, SGRE is supplying 16 7MW offshore turbines, the monopile foundations and the platforms. The latter kit is the first time the OTM concept will be installed in German waters.
GeoSea has been subcontracted to supply and install the turbine foundations.
Installation is to start in the spring next year at the project that is located 90km north of Borkum Island in water depths of 40 metres.
SGRE is also on a similar contract at the developer’s nearby 497MW Hohe See project.
“Albatross allows us to demonstrate our broad competence in offshore projects, ranging from project specific engineering services and the beneficial combination of power generation and transmission technology to service and maintenance concepts”, said SGRE offshore chief Michael Hannibal.
