A lobby group representing UK energy companies has forged an agreement with a US trade organization that encourages their participation in the country’s budding offshore wind sector.
The East of England Energy Group, which represents 300 companies, said it signed the non-binding “memorandum of understanding” with the Virginia Offshore Wind Coalition, which is championing the development of new US projects.
The 30MW Block Island project is currently the only operational offshore wind farm in the US but more are expected to follow.
“We are seeing study tours from the States and elsewhere looking to see what they can learn from the east of England,” EEEGR chief executive Simon Gray said.
“These partnerships will provide opportunities for companies to export to the US.”
