Spanish outfit Euskalforging has won a contract to supply flanges for the foundation and tower for the 2MW Floatgen floating offshore wind turbine off Saint-Nazaire in France.
Euskalforging will fabricate and deliver the flange that will be integrated in the foundation with an outer diameter of 5.2 mm, while the tower flanges will have a diameter range between 3.919 mm to 5.2 mm.
Floatgen will feature a 2MW Vestas V80 turbine mounted on a square ring-shaped concrete floating foundation.
It will be installed off the coast of Le Croisic on the offshore test site of the Ecole Centrale de Nantes before the end of this year.
The consortium behind the project includes Ideol, ECN, Germany’s University of Stuttgart, consultancies Zabala and RSK, and German research institute Fraunhofer IWES.
