Danish wave developer Wavepiston has redeployed a prototype device at the DanWEC test site off Hanstholm.
The 12kW wave ‘energy collector’ is the first of eight units that will eventually form a string.
The second energy collector of the string is currently being assembled said Wavepiston chief executive Michael Henriksen.
The device is being tested in conjunction with the Technical University of Denmark.
The first unit was heavily damaged after a trawler veered off-course just weeks after being initially installed in September 2015.
The now updated device was later redeployed last summer.
Henriksen said a full-scale string is expected to have 20–40 energy collectors.
