Dong Energy’s 258MW Burbo Bank 2 project in the Irish Sea has become the first offshore wind farm to receive a Contract for Difference (CfD) from the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC).
LCCC, which is the counterparty responsible for managing CfDs awarded under the government scheme, said the project started generation under the CfD programme on 11 April.
Burbo Bank 2 is the first commercial deployment of MHI Vestas V164 8MW turbines.
It is the third project in LCCC’s portfolio to be commissioned following a solar farm and biomass plant.
