Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has awarded a commercial operating licence to the first 8MW phase of the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm.
Formosa 1 is located around 3km off the coast of Miaoli in northwest Taiwan and the first phase features two Siemens 4MW machines.
A 120MW second phase is targeted for completion in 2019.
Local developer Swancor Renewable together with Dong Energy and Macquarie are the investors in the project.
