The results of studies assessing the suitability of what could be India’s first offshore wind project are about to be presented to the industry.
On Friday, metocean study findings will be displayed in Chennai by the country’s National Institute of Wind Energy and the European Union-backed First Offshore Wind Farm Project of India.
The two groups have been conducting early scoping work on a proposed wind project, tentatively sized at 200MW.
It would be positioned near the Gulf of Khambat off the country’s northwestern coastline.
Friday’s presentation will also allow for a transfer of knowledge garnered from the EU offshore wind experience and its adaptability in India.
