Kriegers kicks off onshore works

Energinet.dk and 50 Hertz have started onshore work on a dual converter station for the Kriegers Flak combined grid solution in the Baltic Sea.

The grid project will connect the Danish and German grids via the 600MW Kriegers Flak and 288MW Baltic 2 offshore wind farms by the end of 2018.

The new converter is being built at Bentwisch near Rostock next to an existing transformer station.

It will convert electricity coming ashore in Germany to DC from AC and then back to AC.
