Cloud platform provider Akamai Technologies has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for electricity from Infinity Renewables’ 80MW Seymour Hills wind farm in Texas.
The 38-turbine project, which is located outside Dallas, will power Akamai’s data centers in Texas when it comes online next year.
Akamai is committed to sourcing renewable energy for 50% of its global operations by 2020.
Akamai chief financial officer Jim Benson said: “This project is one of several in which Akamai plans to invest to reach our 50% goal.”
