Five countries have formed a new European Union-backed venture focused on promoting the development of offshore wind farms in the North Sea region.
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK are participating in the four-year venture, dubbed Innovation to Push Offshore Wind Energy Regions, or Inn2POWER.
Launched today at the London Offshore Wind Energy 2017 conference, the venture will attempt to strengthen the relationship between the five countries, stimulate collaboration between small and medium sized enterprises and facilitate access to test and demonstration facilities.
The project will provide specific support for SMEs developing transnational business cases and help them coordinate their efforts.
“The benefits from a strong North Sea regional cooperation could well include the development of more systemic solutions of the type that the industry is calling for to supplement existing component solutions”, said Glenda Napier, chief executive of Inn2POWER partner Offshoreenergy.dk.
