Vroon’s subsea-support walk-to-work vessel VOS Start is being mobilised at Damen Shiprepair in Amsterdam ahead of work on Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The vessel is being equipped with a motion-compensated gangway system and an active heave-compensated crane.
It will provide logistics support, accommodation and walk-to-work services for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind during construction of the Walney project, starting in the summer.
Vroon said VOS Start’s sister ship VOS Stone will be delivered by Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China in the “near future”.
The company’s VOS Prime is also currently being mobilised with an access system, before it starts work later this month supporting planned maintenance on a transformer in the Dutch Sector.
