Tidal power developer Atlantis Resources is collaborating with South Korea construction company Hyundai Engineering & Construction to develop marine energy projects globally.
The two companies have signed a strategic partnership agreement that will initially focus on the design and development of a 100MW tidal stream project in the south of Korea.
It will also progress the design, development and delivery of tidal stream projects that Atlantis is pursuing in southeast Asia, such as Indonesia.
The partners will also work on the design of foundations for tidal stream and offshore wind turbines, and opportunities will be explored to partner on the construction of tidal range – barrage and lagoon – projects globally.
Atlantis chief executive Tim Cornelius said: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with such a highly respected, substantial and experienced company like Hyundai E&C.
“Hyundai is seeking to expand into the construction of offshore energy projects in southeast Asia and abroad, while Atlantis requires construction partners to build out our portfolio of tidal power projects in southeast Asia.”
