Floating tidal developer Scotrenewables has removed its SR2000 device from Orkney’s European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) to conduct minor repairs.
The 2MW tidal turbine’s export cable was damaged during construction activity late last year.
The device has been towed to the Orkney outfit’s base at Hatston.
Scotrenewables offshore operations manager David Clouston said the turbine could be returned by the end of June to its Fall of Warness berth at EMEC.
The device will also receive maintenance checks and tweaks, he added.
Adhering to its low-cost vessel philosophy, Scotrenewables carried out the repair operation using only a multi-cat vessel.
The company hired Green Marine for the tow job.
