An Estonian court has rejected an appeal against an up to 1.1GW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
Local media reports that Tallinn Circuit Court upheld an earlier judgment that found against opponents of the joint venture between Nelja Energia and Hiiumaa Offshore Tuulepark.
The plan is to build a wind farm comprising of between 100 and 160 4-7MW turbines with rotor diameters up to 164 meters, north of the island of Hiiumaa.
Total capacity would be 700MW to 1.1GW, with hardware located no closer than 12km from the coast, the reports added.
The area was deemed suitable for the development of offshore wind by the Hiiu County governor in August 2015.
