ENERCON will establish a rotor blade production facility in Bergama, Türkiye, for its E-175 EP5 E2 onshore wind turbine.
The company said the plant in Izmir Province will create 700 jobs and have capacity to produce up to 150 rotor blade sets per year.
It added that the facility will support the international market launch of its E-175 EP5 E2 and enable compliance with local content requirements for participation in Turkish wind tenders.
The site is expected to produce primarily for the Turkish market, with additional supply planned for wind farms in Eastern and Southern Europe.
ENERCON recently signed supply contracts with Turkish customers for more than 300MW linked to the new turbine model.
The E-175 EP5 E2 has a nominal power of 7.0MW and a rotor diameter of 175 metres, positioning it among the highest-yielding onshore turbines in Europe.
“With this rotor blade production site, we are meeting local content requirements for participation in the Turkish tendering system for onshore wind farms,” said Heiko Juritz, chief operating officer of ENERCON.
“In Bergama, we are continuing our proven localisation strategy and creating reliable conditions to ensure that our customers can participate in government tenders with our new top model.”
“Türkiye remains one of ENERCON’s most important international strategic target markets,” Juritz added.
“Our investment in the manufacturing of E-175 EP5 E2 components is a further sign of our commitment to the Turkish market.”
