A public consultation has launched for the proposed Barrons Solar Farm near Burton Joyce in Nottinghamshire.
The 49.9MW project is being developed by Perigus Energy and is expected to connect to the National Grid at Gedling Substation via underground cabling, the company said.
The consultation runs from 11 May to 8 June 2026 and will inform a planning application to Gedling Borough Council, it added.
The scheme could generate enough electricity to power approximately 16,000 homes and aims to support energy security by reducing reliance on imported gas.
An in-person exhibition will take place on 16 May at Burton Joyce & Bulcote Village Hall to gather feedback from local residents.
The site was selected following assessments including grid access, landscape, ecology and archaeology, with plans to minimise environmental impacts and enhance biodiversity.
