A new gangway has been fitted and become operational on Jumbo’s DP2 heavy lift crane vessel Fairplayer, which is installing transition pieces at the 385MW Arkona wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The gangway, provided by Dutch Group SMST, allows workers to walk from vessel to wind farm during the installation of the 60 transition pieces.
The first landing of the modular gangway took place on early November, after it was installed in the port of Rotterdam, where the Fairplayer was outfitted for the job.
Since all of the transition pieces will be installed floating in DP2 mode, the use of a compensated gangway was necessary, SMST said.
