EEW has acquired Bladt’s share of Offshore Structures Britain to become the sole owner of the UK-based fabrication outfit.
The company will be renamed and now operate as EEW Offshore Structures Britain.
The UK yard is also to produce an additional 30 transition pieces for Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm, a deal first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
OSB already has a contract to supply 56 TPs to the project, which will be located of the east coast of the UK.
The new deal guarantees capacity utilisation until autumn 2018 and secures the jobs of more than 150 employees, EEW said.
EEW Special Pipe Constructions chief executive Heiko Mützelburg said: “We also see great potential for the future in the British offshore wind market sector and of course we would like to support local content in the UK under the new name.”
