Altitec has completed lightning damage inspection and repairs at the 504MW Greater Gabbard wind farm off the coast of Suffolk in the UK.
Affected turbines were taken offline during a six-week repair period during the summer, Altitec said.
The company’s technicians inspected and treated blades for damage resulting from general wear and tear and, in some cases, lightning damage.
In total, Altitec inspected 140 turbines at the site, as well as blades with lightning damage.
The company estimates that of all the turbine inspections it carries out each year, “up to 4%” of turbine blades undergo lightening damage repair work.
