Orsted has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Steel Corp to provide foundations for the 2.4GW Greater Changhua offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
The aim is to give the local supply chain the time to deliver capability and capacity to ensure local content in the foundations by 2021.
The Greater Changhua projects include four sites located 3km to 60km off the coast of Changhua in Taiwan.
Orsted is currently working on permitting for the projects and aims to start onshore construction in 2019.
Orsted general manager for Asia Pacific Matthias Bausenwein said: “Based on our current timelines for the Greater Changhua projects, we want to secure local supplier’s capacity for key components like underwater foundation substructures.”
