Eon has generated first power from the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the coast of Sussex in the UK.
Offshore work started in the autumn of 2015 and installation of all 116 MHI Vestas V112 3.45MW turbines was completed in September.
Rampion project director Matthew Swanwick said: “We’re especially proud to have reached this milestone as the first power is generated at Rampion.
“Over the coming weeks and months the turbines will one-by-one begin to be turned on and generate power as they are brought online. This process will take us into 2018 to complete.”
Eon, the Green Investment Group (formerly Green Investment Bank) and Canadian energy company Enbridge are investors in the wind farm.
