Allen Archaeology will this week start geoarchaeological investigations on the onshore cable route of Innogy’s 860MW Triton Knoll offshore wind farm off the coast of Lincolnshire.
The surveys, which will take about two weeks, will examine specific sites along the cable route looking for buried materials or deposits that may be of archaeological and environmental significance.
The work will involve small teams walking the route and using a hand-auger at specific locations to had-dig the sample areas.
Further survey work using additional sampling equipment and machinery may be required, depending on the findings.
The results will help the Triton Knoll developers finalise the design for the onshore cabling works.
Allen Archaeology is also continuing to carry out archaeological trial trenching along the cable route and at the onshore substation site.
