Acciona Energía is to develop the 52.04MW El Cortijo wind farm in Mexico, having won the capacity in the country’s latest power auction.
The project is located in the state of Tamaulipas and is expected to come online in the second half of next year.
Nordex 3MW turbines will feature at the project, which will eventually be expanded to 183MW.
Acciona Energía Mexico director Miguel Angel Alonso said the company was satisfied at being “awarded capacity once again in a long-term electricity auction in México”.
He added: “We have achieved this in the three auctions held in the country to date, and this shows that we are aligned with the Mexican government’s development targets envisaged in its energy reform.”
