Germany’s grid regulator BNetzA has kicked off a 700MW auction for onshore wind, with bids due by 1 February 2018.
Grid bottlenecks have restricted the volume available in the north of the country to 197.3MW. The bid price is capped at €63 per megawatt-hour (MWh).
“Only projects with a construction permit can participate in the auction,” said BNetzA president Jochen Homann.
In November, BNetzA awarded 1000.4MW of grid capacity to 61 onshore wind farms in Germany at an average support price of €38.2 per MWh. Sixty of the projects were community wind projects.
Special rules previously applied to community projects, including participating in tenders before being granted a construction license and having a 54-month build time, compared with 30 months for other projects.
However, these rules are now suspended in the next two auctions.
BNetzA has also started a 200MW solar photovoltaic auction with the same February deadline and a price cap price of €88.4/MWh.
A technology neutral 200MW auction for wind and solar will be held on 1 April 2018.
