ABB is to upgrade the transformers at BC Hydro’s 2.8GW Mica hydro plant in British Columbia.
The $28m order will see the Swiss company design, manufacture and supply single phase, 176-megavolt ampere, 500kV transformers to the plant in Canada.
The units will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Varennes, Quebec.
ABB transformers business unit managing director Markus Heimbach said: “We are pleased to continue our longstanding collaboration with BC Hydro.”
