India has set out a timetable for auctioning wind and solar capacity to help reach its target of 175GW of renewables capacity by 2022.
Between 1.5GW and 2GW of wind power will be auctioned in January followed by a similar volume in March. A further 10GW each will be auctioned in the 2018 and 2019 financial years.
India is targeting a total of 60GW of wind by 2020, with 32GW commissioned and a further 5GW already auctioned.
The country will also auction 3GW of solar capacity in December, 3GW in January, 5GW in February and 6GW in March. A further 30GW each will be auctioned in 2018–19 and 2019–2020.
In total, India plans 100GW of solar power by 2022, with 3.6GW already auctioned this year.
