Duke Energy will officially open the 8.8MW Suwannee solar plant in Florida on 14 December, part of 700MW of new photovoltaic capacity the company will add over the next four years in the US state.
The project, which has been operational since November, consists of almost 44,000 solar panels across 28 hectares in Suwannee county.
The company added that it plans to start work on the 74.9MW Hamilton solar facility in Florida next year.
Hamilton will comprise approximately 300,000 solar panels and will be built on nearly 220 hectares of land in Jasper.
Duke Energy Florida state president Harry Sideris said: “In the next four years, we will be adding up to 700MW of new solar generation as part of our ongoing strategy to offer cleaner, smarter energy solutions that customers value in the Sunshine state.”
