Vestas has confirmed it will supply turbines for a 50MW wind farm under development in Russia by Finnish utility Fortum and local partner Rusnano.
The Danish manufacturer will supply 14 V126-3.6MW machines for the project, the location of which has not been disclosed.
The order is the first of a framework agreement between the parties for turbines for up to 1GW of wind farms in Russia.
Vestas will also set up a blade factory in Ulyanovsk, a nacelle assembly plant in Nizhny Novgorod and a tower factory in Rostov to ensure local content in the turbines.
The Danes will also provide assistance with project siting for all the projects Fortum is developing in Russia.
