ENOVA has started construction on a 30MW repowering project at the Hiddels wind farm in Germany.
The project involves decommissioning 11 turbines and installing five Vestas V150 units rated at 6MW each, the company said.
The new turbines are scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2027, ENOVA added.
The repowered site is expected to supply around 20,500 two-person households with electricity.
ENOVA is also building a substation to provide direct access to the power grid.
Lead project management at ENOVA Fabian Tews said: “With the start of construction in Hiddels, we are advancing another repowering project in our core region according to plan.
“At the same time, this demonstrates the potential of modernizing existing sites through state-of-the-art turbine technology and optimized grid connection: We are increasing the site’s output by a factor of 1.6, thus making a significant contribution to the region’s sustainable energy supply.”
