DNV GL offers digital turbines

DNV GL has launched an online digital tool to provide wind farm owners and operators with insights into turbine condition and performance.

The WindGemini system will provide “digital copies” of turbines that are continuously updated in real-time to reflect the conditions experienced on site, DNV GL said.

The information on performance, condition and remaining life of a turbine can be used to optimise servicing, inspections and plan repairs or replacements and thus minimise downtime, the company added.

DNV GL executive vice president for the energy business in northern Europe, Middle East and Africa Prajeev Rasiah said: “WindGemini is part of DNV GL’s drive towards a more digital future and, as a leading independent advisor to the renewables industry, builds on our expertise of leveraging technology to drive down cost the of energy.”
