French company Engie has sold its 75% interest in three thermal energy plants in the UK with a combined capacity of over 1.8GW to Energy Capital Partners (ECP).
The sale consists of two gas-fired plants at Saltend and Deeside and the Indian Queens oil-fired peaking plant.
Engie’s partner in the projects, Mitsui & Co, has also agreed to sell its 25% stake to ECP.
Engie said the deal is in line with its strategy to invest in low-carbon and flexible power generation.
