Vattenfall is planning to build on the 200MW of solar capacity it has in the pipeline in the Netherlands and is looking for potential projects elsewhere in Europe.
The company already has one solar farm in Wales, but, according to head of large-scale solar power Margit Deimel, it is looking at projects in Germany, the UK, Denmark, Sweden and other countries.
“The pipeline of potential projects in the various core countries is slowly but surely filling up,” she said.
Deimel added that in Germany companies are keen to work with Vattenfall and a subsidy scheme is still place to support projects.
In the UK, however, no subsidy scheme is available to solar developers, therefore, “we will have to be creative if we want to implement new solar projects there”, she said.
The company is also looking to add to the 20-strong team in company’s solar power unit, with 10 job vacancies still to be filled.
