French company Dietswell has won €2.4m in financing for an floating offshore wind project called Eolfloat.
The finance comes from the French Environment and Energy Management Agency’s Renewable Energies at Sea and Pilot River Hydrological Farms initiative.
Dietswell is leading the consortium behind the Eolfloat project, which is developing a semi-submersible float for large-scale offshore wind turbines.
A 1/36th scale model called Trussfloat has been tested at La Seyne-sur-Mer and a full-scale commercial version is planned to be available by the end of next year.
The developers said the aim is to support turbines up to 8MW initially.
