Siemens Gamesa and Enel have met with Russian government officials to discuss the possibility of building wind turbine production facilities in the country, according to the Russian Association of Wind Power Industry (RAWI).
RAWI said representatives from the two companies, which are partnering on the development of two wind farms in Russia totalling 291MW, met with the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade deputy head Vasily Osmakov.
The meeting discussed how to ensure that the projects have an “appropriate” level of local content by manufacturing turbine components in Russia, RAWI said.
Russia awarded more than 1.6GW of wind power in a tender in June.
