Estonian outfit Marketex Offshore Constructions has manufactured and delivered 21 anchors to Smulders for the foundations for the 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
Marketex, which is part of the BLRT Grupp, said the anchors weighed between 140 and 195 tonnes each, with a diameter of 9.5 metres and height of 15 metres.
Marketex Offshore Constructions board member Ruslan Didukh said: “This project enables us to enter the offshore wind energy market of Great Britain, which is by far the largest and fastest growing in the world – in 2016 investments reached about €8bn.”
Smulders won a deal from balance of plant contractor Boskalis to assemble 11 suction bucket foundations for the project, which is being developed by Vattenfall.
The wind farm will feature 11 MHI Vestas 8.4MW V164 turbines.
