Energinet.dk and National Grid Interconnector Holdings are seeking a company to carry out unexploded ordnance (UXO) surveys, inspections and removals on the route of the 1.4GW Viking link between the UK and Danish electricity systems.
The aim of the work is to reduce to the risk level along the cable route to “as low as reasonably practicable”, according to the tender documents.
The tender calls for the marine activities and geophysical surveys to be carried out by the end of 2018 and the inspection and removal to be delivered in the second quarter of 2019.
Up to five companies will be pre-qualified to carry out the work, but only one will be chosen to conduct the UXO job.
The tender is open until 22 September.
Viking is a joint venture between Energinet.dk and National Grid.
Work on the 630km link, which would connect Revsing in Denmark to Bicker Fenn in the UK, is scheduled to start in 2018 and be complete in 2022.
