UK marine research outfit Cefas will carry out a three-year survey campaign for Vattenfall’s proposed 1.8GW Norfolk Vanguard project off the Norfolk coast.
A 12-strong Cefas team will gather data on oceanographic processes at the wind farm site as the Swedish developer looks to finalise its designs for the project.
“The data collected will ensure structures are strong enough to survive the offshore environment but not over engineered, thereby minimizing costs,” said Vattenfall’s Zoe Roberts.
Vattenfall is to host a series of drop in sessions to share its plans for the project’s onshore and offshore infrastructure this Autumn and hopes to start construction work in the early 2020s.
