Dong Energy and Zeeland Seaports have signed a letter of intent to develop an operations and maintenance base in the Dutch port of Vlissingen Buitenhaven for the 752MW Borssele 1&2 offshore wind complex off the country’s coast.
The two parties have agreed to develop in the coming months a “specific location” in Vlissingen Buitenhaven, Dong said, after which a final contract is expected to be signed.
“This will happen as soon as both parties reach an agreement on the terms and conditions,” Dong said.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 94 8MW turbines to the project, slated to be fully operational by the end of 2020.
“We have been welcomed with open arms in Zeeland after winning the tender for Borssele 1&2,” Dong Energy Netherlands manager Jasper Vis said.
“We look forward to settling in the province of Zeeland and contributing to further regional economic development and long-term employment,” he added.
