French outfit Bourbon Offshore has completed the installation of mooring for Ideol’s 2MW Floatgen floating offshore wind turbine at the SEM-REV experimental test site off Le Croisic in France.
The mooring system uses six synthetic mooring lines designed and developed by the Ideol team and was installed using an anchor handling tug supply vessel equipped with a remote operated vehicle.
SEM-REV head Christian Berhault said: “One of the Floatgen project challenges was to install an innovative mooring system that needs to meet the production conditions criteria of the floating wind turbine.
“This demonstrates the value of an experimental site to test innovative technological developments, their implementation and project management when in production.”
