Australian solar developer Stellata Energy and UK investor Ingenious have secured planning permission for a 120MW photovoltaic project in Western Australia.
The Merredin solar farm will cover 400 hectares in the Australian state’s central Wheatbelt.
Construction is scheduled to start in the first half of 2018, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of 2019.
The project also includes planning approval for energy storage and is designed to be battery ready.
It is expected to generate 260 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year to the South West Interconnected System.
About 200 people will be employed by the project during construction.
The partners have committed to funding a pipeline of solar farms across Australia valued at over $200m.
