Royal Boskalis Westminster has contracted Singapore outfit Keppel Shipyard to convert the semi-submersible heavy lift ship Finesse to a crane vessel capable of transporting and installing offshore wind turbine foundations.
Finesse will be equipped with a 3000-tonne crane, dynamic positioning capabilities and accommodation for up to 150 people.
The vessel is already berthed at Keppel Shipyard, with the work expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2017.
The contract is one of four won recently by the shipyard totalling S$85m for the conversion, repair and modification of vessels.
