The North Carolina Utilities Commission has given the green light for NTE Energy’s 30MW Fayetteville solar plant in North Carolina.
The award of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity is a requirement for starting construction of the project, which will be located near Fayetteville in Cumberland county, NTE said.
The facility will consist of approximately 124,000 solar photovoltaic modules.
Construction is expected to start in 2018 and the project is scheduled to come online in 2020.
NTE Energy president and chief executive Seth Shortlidge said: “NTE Energy is proud to enter the renewable market with the Fayetteville Solar Energy Center, which will provide a clean source of energy to the Carolinas.”
