Canyon Offshore has won a contract from Siem Offshore Contractors for trenching services on Dong Energy’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 wind farm off the UK east coast.
The work will involve trenching about 140km for the array cables, which will be installed by Siem.
Canyon will employ its jet trencher T1200 and its hard ground machine i-Trencher to carry out jetting and cutting.
The company will also use two remotely operated vehicles all deployed from the Grand Canyon support vessel (pictured).
The work will start in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will be managed from Canyon’s base in Aberdeen.
Siem Offshore Contractors project manager for Hornsea 1 Johann Stulemeye said: “In Canyon Offshore we will not only have a UK partner to complement our growing local presence, but also a technical leader in their field.”
