Vestas is to supply turbines totalling up to 1GW to Finnish utility Fortum and local partner Rusnano for wind farms in Russia.
The Danish manufacturer said that, as a part of the discussions between the parties, it is planning to establish manufacturing facilities in Russia to comply with local content requirements for the projects.
Fortum-Rusnano won the right to develop 26 projects between 2018 and 2022 in the country’s first onshore wind tender.
The first project will be a 50MW wind farm in 2018.
