Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) shareholders have approved the appointment of Markus Tacke as the company’s chief executive.
The approval came at the first shareholder general meeting since the conclusion of the merger between Gamesa and Siemens Wind Power in April.
The shareholders also approved the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy name of the new company.
The meeting also agreed to the company’s fiscal year now running from 1 October to 30 September of the following year.
The appointments of Luis Javier Cortés Domínguez as an independent director, Michael Sen as proprietary director and Carlos Rodríguez-Quiroga as executive director were also approved at the meeting.
Tacke (pictured) said: “The merger creating our company took place at precisely the right time. It gives us size and scale.
“Our objective, as I’ve said before, is not only to ‘compete’ in today’s competitive industry environment, but to win. We are now perfectly positioned to do that.”
He said the new company aimed to guarantee business continuity, ensure a quick and smooth integration and win new business while maintaining profitability.
