Siemens has hired Goldman Sachs to advise on a possible deal to take over Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa, according to reports.
Reuters reports that the German company has hired Goldman comes after Spanish news website El Confidencial said Siemens has hired Deutsche Bank to look at buying Gamesa and has talked to Iberdrola, which owns 19.7% of Gamesa.
Both Reuters and El Confidencial said that Siemens declined to comment on the deal.
Gamesa said in a regulatory filing that it “regularly analyzes the different strategic options that are presented to the group”.
The statement said: “At the date of this communication it has not taken any decision and no agreement has materialised.”
