Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology plans to roll out its new 6MW offshore wind platform for commercial deployment in the first quarter of next year.
The GW6S model will be available in three formats – GW154/6.7MW, GW164/6.45MW and GW171/6.45MW – with rotor diameters ranging from 154 metres to 171 metres.
LM Wind Power unveiled the first 75.1-metre blade for the turbine last month and a prototype of the GW154/6.7MW model will be installed in early 2018 off the Fujian and Guangdong coast of China.
Goldwind said it will target markets outside of China for the turbine, including Japan and South Korea and later Europe.
