Corrosion team safeguards Gemini

Rhenus Offshore Logistics Netherlands has worked with Vroon to provide corrosion protection for two offshore substations at the 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm off the coast of the Netherlands.

The work was carried out from Vroon’s platform supply vessel VOS Prime, which was equipped with a Ampelmann gangway and living space for the 40-strong project team as well as 20 crew members.

A total of 934 trips were carried out between ship and platforms, Rhenus said.

The project was also supported by crew transfer vessels transporting workers between VOS Prime and the base at Eemshaven.

The VOS Prelude vessel out of Emden was also used to transport food, beverages, tools and carry out waste disposal at Gemini.

Rhenus Offshore head of business development and sales logistics Thore Schreiber said: “We are delighted with the successful development of the first project, which was completed by our new Dutch subsidiary.

“With our locations in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany with Bremen and Cuxhaven as well as Sassnitz/Mukran, we can thus cover the supply of the entire offshore sector in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.”
