Dutch engineering group GustoMSC has unveiled a new jack-up vessel design capable of installing the latest generation of 8MW to 9.5MW turbines and foundations in the US offshore market.
The self-propelled SEA-3250-LT jack-up is designed for a variable load capacity of 2600 tonnes and has the option to load two complete 8MW turbines, the company said.
The vessel would be equipped with a pedestal crane with a boom length of 100 metres, with lifting capacity of 800 tonnes.
GustoMSC said that currently there is no equipment available in the US market for installing present and future turbines and foundations offshore, because of insufficient carrying and lifting capability.
