Dutch duo Ampelmann and Seaqualize are partnering to develop a new gangway for the transfer of offshore wind personnel.
The companies said the gangway will offer “significant operation and maintenance cost reduction”.
The project will include the patented Seaqualize balancing system and has received funding from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The two companies will work with compatriots at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands and the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands to build a full-scale prototype, which is scheduled to complete offshore testing by summer 2018.
The Seaqualize hydro-pneumatic system “ensures that the static moment is passively balanced in all desired angles and for all load cases”, the company said.
